Shot peening is the process of modifying the properties of metal components to extend their operating life. The components are blasted with blasting media, steel shot, glass or ceramic beads or cut wire to create dimples on the surface. Shot peening changes the properties of the surface to alleviate stress, surface cracking, vibration and fretting in the component while also hardening the surface and providing resistance to corrosion.
Granowski build peening machines to suit components of any size or shape. Depending on the component the number of wheels can vary to give an even finish. Types of Granowski machines to be used for shot peening include:
- Spinner Hangers
- Rotary Table and Carousal Machines
- Monorail Machines
